Hey There Cthulhu!

Just been taking a look at the Necromonicron (don't know if that's the correct spelling but oh well) and I discovered it's some kind of ancient tome that the ancient ones created to preach their ways to the cultist (!). I finished Re-animator (the Herbert West story) and it was really good. You can find the link in the last post and i found this hilarious video called 'Hey there Cthulhu' and it was played by a 'cultist' (ROFL)

Herbert West and his scary dead people!

So all is well in the land of Arkham. My character is now Lv. 5 has increased firearms skill (+10) can Hide, Investigate (what a surprise!) and a few other cool things. So I'm now on the trail of the monsters of Herbert West a mad scientist who was determined to make dead people come back to life. I've you've read Lovecraft's Re-animator you will be familiar with Herbert and his experiments. So i started the quest after speaking to a policeman in Arkham's Sanitarium who has West's assistant who's gone a bit crazy. So he's ask me to un-jumble things so i go off and find Daniel one of West's friends who tells me to go through the side entrance of the church. Hopping along merrily i killed lots of cultists and lots of cats and dogs who had been brought back from the dead. I found another friend of his (locked in a cage) who tells me to go off and find Herbert's house in Boston. One extremely quick train ride away i found myself in Boston (which cost me 10 money i might add). Upon finding Herbert's house i quickly delved deeper into the cellar where lots of dead people were waiting to kill me. I got halfway in, before everything froze and my computer decided to shut the game down. Apparently, the Norton Update alert shut the game down. Thanks, Norton!

IT BEGINS!!!!

Right, let me lay down what this blog is for:

  • I am going to blog about my experience playing Cthulhu Returns MMORPG.
  • Secondly, I may blog about other things.
  • Thirdly, please don't take this seriously, it's only a bit of fun.

Now with that out the way I can get on with it.

Right I was browsing around wikipedia as you do and i found this wierd sound named The Bloop that, appaerntly, is made by an animal but it would have to be huge. Bigger than a blue whale! Now in another it of the Article it said that the co-ordinates of the sound matched pretty closely to the co-ordinates given in H.P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu. So some people speculate it might be the mystical monster Cthulhu! Dun-Dun-Duhhhhh!

Now i was looking around one of these websites when i found a game called Cthulhu Returns a free MMORPG (Massivley Mulitplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Link is here- http://www.cthulhureturns.com/. So i thought I'd have a stab at it. So merriy i hopped along to the website and dwonloaded it before descovering that Safari couldn't manage to get it past 27.9 MB. So Internet Explorer leaped to the rescue and I downloaded and installed. Now there was no game icon either in the start menu nor the desktop so i popped down to the program files and found it! Alas, my gaming could begin! I created a desktop shortcut and created an account and started playing.

So, on to gameplay! Now I, personally love the graphics. It's this sort of gloomy but cute graphics. I like it. Right so the Helpful Professer arrives. I've only been playing for ten minutes and he's really irratating. When he follows you around to gve you a hand on your first quest he makes the game glitchy and irritating. So onwards to Doctor Allsey! He needed a hand retrieving some student files from abandonded house! why the files are there i may never know! So, revolver in hand, (yes i am carrying firearm) I went to this house (Doctor Allsey gave me a flashlight as well! What a nice man!) and explored around the two rooms. The 'Helpful' Professer decide it would be good to shoot at rats for a while. So combat. I really like the combat. It's much more decent than Runescape (The combat in Runescape is utter rubbish) and you can have firearms. Three cheers for ballisitic weapons. So yada yada yada, find severed head sitting on files (?) then kill head retrieve files give them to Docto Alsey and then. Jutter then freeze. The game froze. After, ten minutes of gameplay. Granted the website siad there was a bug that caused the game to crash once in a while and remember this is still the beta.

Some people would argue that the beginning of this exeperience is utter rubbish and i should abandon my quest now. No, not a seasoned gamer like me. I go onwards into the unknown. I have a funny feeling this game will be a surprise success.
